Voices from the Virgin Islands

The majority of Virgin Islanders today are of Afro- Caribbean descent, but the voice of the ‘Danish West Indians’ are rarely heard in Denmark.
The website intends to give voices to the people who in the first place were victims of the atrocities of slavery and who’s descendants practically have been ignored ever since.

In this video five Virgin Islanders in 2010 tell about their view of the PAST, the PRESENT and the FUTURE. Firstly they relate to the Danish colonial era of slavery, secondly of how it is to live as an Afro-Caribbean in US Virgin Islands today and last but not least about what one could wish for the future if the negative legacy of the past eventually was to be broken.
